Password tips

Here are a few tips for making sure that the passwords you are creating and using are as safe as can be.  Remember - the protection of F&D’s data networks and your personal information is only as good as your password.

o   Don’t use any part of your name, logon username, email address, employee number, Social Security number, phone number, DID or phone extension or any other identifying name or code normally associated with you.
o   Don’t use your spouse’s name or kids names or any other easily guessed family or friends’ names.
o   Don’t use dictionary words, slang or any industry acronyms.

ü  Do use nonstandard capitalization and spelling on words.
ü  Do switch letters and replace letters with numbers.
ü  Do use longer passwords or combine phrases into one word that are easily remembered by you but not easily guessed by others that may know you.
