When you are connected to Citrix and an application is freezing up your Citrix session, hitting Ctrl-F1 will allow you go into your Citrix session task manager. In there, go to the processes tab and kill the application that is freezing up your session. Once that process is gone, your Citrix session should be stable again and you can try reopening the file that was causing the problem earlier.
Please note: Hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del will only bring you to your local computer task manager and not the one in Citrix!
